Inheritance, transmission, transformation: The New Wealth Equation
This mini-series offers a renewed perspective on wealth transmission. Through four articles, we explore how philanthropic engagement, governance, the younger generation, and international mobility are reshaping inheritance and the continuity of family wealth.
1. Giving purpose to your wealth: philanthropy according to indosuez
Introduction
In a rapidly evolving world, philanthropy is emerging as a driver of positive change and engagement. Within the Indosuez group, it is not simply a value, but a holistic and structured journey, embodied by our Philanthropy Advisory service and our dedicated foundations. Discover how this approach empowers you to make your wealth a force for good and take meaningful action for society.
Philanthropy: a holistic and structured journey
Today, philanthropy is conceived as a project, whether family-led or entrepreneurial, and often goes beyond regular donations or occasional support for causes. It forms part of a comprehensive strategy, aligned with family or business governance, succession planning, and societal engagement. At Indosuez, this holistic vision enables us to address the deep aspirations of our clients, whether they are entrepreneurs, families, or individuals seeking to turn their resources into a legacy of impact.
Our Philanthropy Advisory draws upon the expertise of our teams, who possess in-depth knowledge of the philanthropic ecosystem, beneficiary selection processes, and governance challenges. This practical experience allows us to provide bespoke support, tailored to each client’s profile and ambitions. Our teams, enriched by hands-on experience within our foundations, accompany clients throughout the design and implementation of their philanthropic projects.
Philanthropy Advisory: personalised support
Indosuez’s Philanthropy Advisory is available to all client profiles: entrepreneurs, families, and individuals without direct heirs. It is a continuum of services, where philanthropy is seamlessly integrated into the client’s overall strategy. Our teams support clients through initial reflection, structuring, and implementation, facilitating intergenerational dialogue and mobilising the necessary resources.
Tailored workshops, introductions to trusted partners and experts, and close collaboration with Wealth Planners help transform ideas into concrete and impactful actions. This approach is part of our commitment to building long-term relationships, founded on understanding and trust, across generations.
Collaboration for greater impact
Indosuez’s philanthropic initiative is supported by three complementary foundations, each with its own identity, mission, and local roots.
The group’s foundations work closely together, sharing governance, expertise, networks, and best practices. These synergies are designed to strengthen the impact of our actions for society, our clients, and our employees.
This collaboration also broadens our scope: more themes, more regions, more approaches. It enables us to support cross-border philanthropic projects for our clients, wherever they wish to make a difference around the world.
Conclusion
Philanthropy within the Indosuez group is much more than an act of generosity: it is structured, professional, and meaningful. Through its foundations and Philanthropy Advisory service, the group offers clients bespoke support, capable of addressing contemporary challenges and contributing to lasting societal change.

Indosuez group foundations: three complementary and coherent projects
Degroof Petercam Foundation
Founded in 2008, the Degroof Petercam Foundation is among Belgium’s ten largest corporate foundations. With its own capital and dedicated team, it supports projects in Belgium that empower individuals through education, employment, and social well-being. Each year, the DPF Award provides three laureates with financial and non-financial support over five years.
Indosuez Foundation Europe
Under the aegis of the ‘Fondation de France’ since 2011, the Indosuez Foundation Europe works for the social inclusion of vulnerable people in France and other European countries where the group operates (Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium). It prioritises support for small-scale associations, with strong employee involvement. Supported projects range from assisting families of sick children to incubating entrepreneurial initiatives led by people with disabilities.
Indosuez Foundation Switzerland
Established under Swiss law, the Indosuez Foundation in Switzerland shares the same values as its European counterparts, but with a distinct mission: since 2012, it has supported local communities through environmental initiatives, circular economy, and education. Its scope is more international, covering Switzerland, Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Latin America. Funded projects are diverse, from reforestation and training for young people with disabilities to circular economy initiatives.
